sol8 boot execute gone foul 

 well hell.  
   
 The file just loaded does not appear to be executable.  
   
 ok> cdrom -sw  
   
 # prtvtoc  
   
 # fsck -y /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0  
 # mount /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /a  
 # ls -la /a  
   
 cool.
